Master of Climate Change, The Australian National University

Nancy is a climate resilience advocate who has been supporting and coordinating climate-related initiatives in the Solomon Islands for almost a decade. She held roles within government and NGOs across climate change adaptation and mitigation, climate finance, research, policy development, advocacy, training, community engagement, and monitoring and evaluation.

Prior to taking up her Australia Award, Nancy was the National Project Coordinator for the Capacity Building Initiative for Transparency Project in Solomon Islands, which aimed to strengthen the country’s technical and institutional capacity for compliance with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. She has also supported donor-funded initiatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), and coordinated the Solomon Islands Low-Emissions Development Strategy.

Nancy represented Solomon Islands on a range of climate committees and councils, including the multilateral Coral Triangle Initiative, which she supported as Chair of the Regional Climate Change Technical Working Group. A passionate and experienced climate strategist, Nancy advocates for the benefits of creating gender inclusive and sensitive initiatives and actions, and incorporating the voices of women and local communities in decision-making. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Marine Affairs and Geography from The University of the South Pacific.
