Solomon Islands

Master of Fisheries Policy, The University of Wollongong

For almost a decade, Lois has been supporting efforts towards the conservation, sustainability and management of Solomon Islands’ fisheries. As a Senior Fisheries Compliance Officer for the Solomon Islands Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Lois ensures the fisheries sector adheres to environmental and fisheries legal standards and safeguards. She believes that sustainable fishing within the Pacific region can be achieved through effective collaboration between governments, regional organisations, and other stakeholders working together to conserve marine resources.

In 2023, Lois was the recipient of the Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA) Scholarship, through which she completed five professional short courses from the University of Wollongong under the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS). These courses included International Fish Trade, Fisheries Management, International Fisheries Law, The Law of the Sea, and Maritime and Enforcement, which form the foundation of her Master’s program.

Lois is also a leader in her community and church who is known for her strong communication skills and teamwork. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science from The University of the South Pacific.
