Esterlina is a trade specialist passionate about boosting Tonga’s economy by creating trade opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). She has over six years’ professional experience in developing and implementing trade policy, with a focus on fostering economic growth and development.
In her most recent role as Principal Trade Officer for the Tongan Ministry of Trade and Economic Development, Esterlina contributed to the development of strategies to facilitate trade during times of national disaster, strengthening Tonga’s resilience building efforts.
In 2023, she was selected to participate in the Netherlands Trainee Program, a fellowship funded by the Netherlands Government. Through the program, Esterlina was stationed at the World Trade Organization (WTO) where she collaborated with various divisions and ehanced her expertise in trade policy.
Esterlina is currently pursuing her Master of Economics and Resource Policy, specialising in International Trade. She also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of the South Pacific.
