Master of Advanced Nursing, Monash University

Jean is a highly experienced registered nurse committed to advancing nursing education and improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practice. She has worked in PNG hospitals since 2012 and currently serves as an ICU Nurse at Port Moresby General Hospital. Recognising skill gaps among her staff,  Jean developed a peer-led and evidence-based training program which went on to boost staff confidence and patient health outcomes through continuous development.

Since 2014, Jean has been an active participant of the Open Heart International Program, which ignited her passion for critical care and cardiac nursing. In 2022 and 2024 respectively, Jean coordinated the launches of the Cardiothoracic Society of PNG and the PNG Critical Care Nurses Society, which aimed to unite nurses and doctors with a shared commitment towards advancing cardiac and critical care nursing.

Upon completing her Australia Awards studies, Jean plans to return to PNG to enhance healthcare education and patient outcomes in critical care nursing by identifying gaps, developing specialised training, and implementing policies and sustainable services that strengthen nursing capacity.
