Atenasi is a sustainable development specialist with nearly two decades of experience across the private and development sectors in Fiji, Kiribati, and the Solomon Islands. She holds qualifications in development law and marine science.
Since earning her Master of Law and Development from the University of Melbourne in 2018, Atenasi has held several key leadership positions. These include serving as CEO of the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), and Global Coordinator for Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) within the Pacific Islands. She has also worked with UN Women to build the capacity of NGOs in Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands to manage and report on grants, the Australian Aid program in Kiribati and in Solomon Islands, and the International Women's Development Agency.
As CEO of SICCI, Atenasi boosted public-private collaboration, and during COVID-19 ensured that businesses' concerns about lockdowns and stimulus package measures were relayed to the government. At PTI, she helped to establish the network’s Independent Advisory Board and led the creation of its first joint strategic plan.
Currently, Atenasi is an analyst with the Pacific Private Sector Development Initiative, specialising in women’s economic empowerment. While living in the Solomon Islands, she served on the board of the Solomon Islands Community Conservation Partnership (SICCP), where she supported the development of its new strategic plan and accountability framework.
Atenasi also holds a Bachelor of Marine Studies from the University of the South Pacific.
