Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) alumna, Vasiti Soko, has been recognised for her outstanding work and leadership, winning the inaugural Women’s International Network on Disaster Risk Reduction Excellence Award (WIN DRR).

The UNDRR Award recipient and first female Director of Fiji's National Disaster Management Organisation (NDMO) has led the country through three tropical cyclones, flashfloods, storm surges, and COVID-19, while championing inclusion and community engagement.

Accepting the Award on behalf of all Fijian women with whom she is privileged to work, the WLI Leadership & Mentoring program alumna said, “I am humbled that our collaboration, all the hours and days we put into disaster management, saving lives and addressing women needs in Fiji, has been recognised by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction."
